![]() We arrived in here on sunday morning when visiting Memphis for a few days. I've worked in restaurants and it is hard work indeed. It's a shame but I genuinely don't like leaving negative reviews. It is conveniently located in walking distance from the Peabody hotel. This place is fun for a date night or a girls night. ![]() Their shrimp and grits were wonderful and unique with the hint of bbq sauce in the grits. Side note, in the evening there martinis are to die and I highly recommend the key lime pie martini with a graham cracker rim, yum! Watch for happy hour specials. A great spot to hit for a late breakfast/early lunch. They use the same base waffle batter for their chicken and waffles with a piece of nice crunchy chicken that just melts in your mouth with flavor. A light crunchy waffle that tastes like an oreo is just amazing how they make it so subtle yet awesome. I’ve never had anything like this and to be honest it’s a sugar junkies dream. The oreo waffle as crazy as it sounds is a waffle. Just across the Peabody this place loaded with crazy waffles, benedict specialties, and whole variety brunch style foods. ![]() If it’s the weekend, you’re in Memphis, and brunch your thing then you must stop here. Good food and good service and good atmosphere. I brunch at The Beauty Shop, Bosco's, Local, the Majestic, Paulette's and others. I dine at many restaurants in the City of Memphis. To date, neither the manager or owner has called. I left my name and telephone number, asking the owner to please call. The owner, I was told, does not visit this particular restaurant on any regular basis. I went back the next day and asked to speak with the owner. It is a manager's job to know when food is returned, find out the problem and try to make the customer's dining experience positive. Evidently, knowing how to manage, knowing how to approach and speak with customers or making bad situations better for her customers is not what she knows. She admitted she did not know the facts and was unaware of my cold food, not getting my food replaced or that I had paid for the drinks. I told her exactly what I have said in this review. On the sidewalks of Memphis, after being verbally accosted by Automatic Slim staff, I explained to the "Manager," who left her restaurant unattended, along with two of her wait staff, what had actually happened. The "manager" threatened to call the police. ![]() The "Manager" with our waiter and another waiter began to accuse me of being rude for leaving. We walked out of the restaurant and walked a half a block to the corner of Third and Union Avenue when three people yelling at us quickly approached. Care for the customer's experience does not exist. No one offered to buy us a drink, coffee or anything while we waited. The food had yet to arrive, now almost an hour and a half since first ordering. Twenty minutes later I left money to pay for three drinks and I left an undeserved tip. He assured me I would be priority and new dishes would arrive promptly. He looked at me and said, "they are cold." The side potatoes were barely warm. I asked the waiter to put his finger on the poached eggs, as I was not going to eat them. Approximately 45 minutes passed before being served cold eggs. They were exchanged for other water glasses. I called her back to finish wiping the table properly. She removed the broken glass, leaving behind glass chars on the table. A young lady wiped the table and while cleaning broke one of the glasses that was left on the table. Shelley and I arrived and was seated promptly.
